Summits farthest from Earth's center
Mount Everest is the point with the highest elevation above sea level on Earth, but it is not the summit that is farthest from Earth's center. Because of the equatorial bulge, the summit of Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador is the point on Earth that is farthest from the center of Earth, and is 2,168Â m (7,113Â ft) farther from Earth's center than the summit of Everest.
- Note: Chimborazo's summit is about 10 meters farther from Earth's center than that of Huascaran's.
